Kedarnath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in India and a key destination in the Char Dham Yatra. Located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand at an altitude of 3,583 meters, the temple is open only for a limited time each year due to extreme weather conditions.
22 April 2026 (Saturday) – The temple will open with grand rituals on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, after the winter break. The Baba Kedar idol is ceremoniously brought from Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath to Kedarnath.
3 November 2026 (Monday) – The temple will close on the day of Bhai Dooj, after Diwali. Following the closure, the idol of Lord Shiva is moved to Ukhimath, where he is worshipped during the winter season.
